Collin County was the birthplace of two popular children’s television series: Barney & Friends and Wishbone that were originally filmed at Color Dynamics Lyrick Studios in Allen. Barney was an anthropomorphic purple dinosaur who always had an optimistic attitude. The musical series featured young performers, including Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato, who both have continued with successful acting and singing careers.

She appeared in Barney & Friends from 2002-2004, and has starred in many other productions such as Disney Channel’s Camp Rock (2008.) Lovato has released numerous albums and won many industry awards.
Wishbone was a children’s series featuring a Jack Russel terrier who would faithfully retell famous historic and literary stories such as Robin Hood, Don Quixote, and Joan of Arc. The show was very popular and received many awards including a Peabody award in 1998, and five Emmy awards.
